Westminster Unveils Innovative Retirement Living

Ribbon cutting ceremony

Mayor Kirk Watson and Chamber of Commerce Help Cut the Ribbon

AUSTIN, TX – On June 29, 2023, Mayor Kirk Watson joined Chuck Borst, executive director of Westminster, members of Westminster’s Board of Directors, representatives from the Austin Chamber of Commerce, project partners, and Westminster residents and associates for the grand opening of the Carlisle, Westminster’s third tower rising over Bull Creek Blvd.

Equipped with roof-top solar panels for energy conservation and spectacular décor that reflects downtown sophistication, the Carlise provides spacious independent living residences and a fine-dining restaurant, in addition to all the luxurious amenities and healthcare available to residents throughout the Westminster community. The Carlisle also contains assisted living apartments and a memory care wing, which are accessible to current residents as they require additional care, and to a limited number of outside resident guests or referrals. The new building contains underground parking.

“It is a pleasure and an honor to open this beautiful new property, which demonstrates the future of senior living,” said Charles “Chuck” Borst.
“I want to thank our project partners, including White Construction, Pi Architects, StudioSix5, Zeigler financing, Life Care Services (LCS), EEA, P3 Consulting, Land Use Solutions, and RCMH Law, for working diligently and cohesively to ensure this project was completed on time. Westminster remains the City’s best example of retirement living for discerning retirees who want to maintain control over where, when, and how to retire comfortably.”

Mayor Kirk Watson noted that he has many friends at Westminster and remarked about how kind and satisfied they are with the neighborhood and their living arrangements.

“Westminster is a place I enjoy coming to. I have so many friends here, friends who are warm and welcoming. The idea that we’re expanding, that we’re cutting a ribbon on something that creates such happiness, this day feels special indeed,” said Watson.

Westminster’s Board Chair, Paul Hilgers, thanked the residents and associates for their patience during the two-year construction of the Carlisle and renovations to the second tower called the Windsor. This work completes the third phase of a four-phase master plan. Also under Borst’s leadership, Westminster has been honored by the Austin American-Statesman for nearly a decade as a Top Workplace. The community’s healthcare services have been lauded by the U.S. News & World Report, and Westminster is routinely listed as a “Best Senior Living” property in Austin. The community has also received national recognition for its philanthropic efforts which have raised more than a million dollars benefiting local charities and record funds for Alzheimer’s research.
