Westminster Celebrates 10th Year as a Winner of the 2023 Greater Austin Top Workplaces Award Always “Extraordinary, Together”
Austin, Texas, November 13, 2023 – For the 10th consecutive year, Westminster retirement community has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2023 honor by the Austin American-Statesman Top Workplaces program. Westminster also achieved honors in Workplace Cultural Excellence subcategories, including Workplace Appreciation, Professional Development and Employee Well-Being for mid-size workplaces with 150 to 499 employees.
“We are especially proud of this 10-year milestone recognizing the hard work, dedication and high standards of professionalism of our associates who make Westminster one of the most rewarding places to work in Central Texas,” said Chuck Borst, executive director of Westminster who has led the community and grown its workforce for more than 16 years. “Our employees are good at their jobs, hold great integrity, and are respected by our residents. According to Kim Ogden, Westminster’s director of human resources, “This decade anniversary is especially meaningful because it is based on earnest feedback from our associates who have raised the benchmark for service in the senior living industry, one of the fastest-growing employment sectors in Texas.” Ogden joined Westminster’s human resources division 11 years ago. She reports that recruitment is thriving and Westminster is always looking for new talent to grow its team.

Lloyd Smith – Environmental Services
“Westminster provides a safe and comfortable work environment where the compensation matches the workload,” said Lloyd Smith, an environmental services associate who explained that the community treats its employees with respect as equals. “When I moved to Austin from Jamaica Westminster provided me with my first job in America, which allows me to provide for my family and achieve financial stability.” Smith added that the residents who live at Westminster are very friendly, and they infuse the workplace with laughter, which makes the workday enjoyable for everyone on campus.
The annual list is based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The confidential survey uniquely measures 15 culture drivers that are critical to the success of any organization such as alignment, execution, and connection to co-workers.
