What is Westminster?
We are a Life Plan community. That means in addition to offering a unique combination of services and amenities, and one-, two- and three-bedroom residential living apartment homes for independent living, we have a full range of on-site health services, from short-term rehabilitation to skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care.
What is Life Care?
Life Care is a plan that gives you the security of knowing you’ll never need to move again should your health care needs change. It’s a financial advantage as well. The concept was pioneered by Life Care Services, LLC, in the 1960s. Today, Life Care is among the most popular contract options in senior care and retirement living.
Residents pay a one-time entrance fee and monthly service fees, and are then given priority access to 24/7 skilled nursing care with virtually no additional expenses. Life Care provides peace of mind and significantly reduces worry about the affordability and availability of long-term care services such as assisted living or memory care in the future. With the lifetime security of Life Care, you’ll know just where to go and who will take care of you. Not every community offers Life Care. More than 55 years ago, Westminster was first in our area to do so.
What fees do you charge?
The cost of living at Westminster includes a one-time entrance fee and a monthly service fee. A variety of floor plans and financial options make it easy and affordable to make Westminster your home. We offer three financial options:
The 90% Return-of-Capital® Plan
Refunds of 90% of your initial entrance fee to you or your estate, regardless of your length of residency at Westminster.
The 50% Return-of-Capital® Plan
Under this plan, Westminster provides a 50% return of your entrance fee to you or your estate, and you still get to enjoy the many advantages of Life Care.
The Standard Plan
Helps you secure your future at Westminster and the Life Care benefit with the least capital investment. If you ever decide to move from the community, a portion of your original entrance fee may be refunded, depending upon your length of residency.
Are there any guarantees?
Absolutely. Westminster’s 100% Satisfaction Guarantee offers you another key financial advantage. This program ensures that, over the course of the first 12 months of residency at Westminster, if you are not completely satisfied, 100% of your entrance fee will be returned.
What does the monthly service fee cover?
It is based on the type of residential living apartment floor plan selected. The fee includes a flexible dining program, and all community services and amenities, including unlimited days in The Arbour Health Center at virtually no additional charge.
What amenities will you find?
In addition to a heated indoor swimming pool and spa, studios for Tai Chi and yoga and walking trails, you’ll also enjoy chef-prepared cuisine in our Laurel Dining Room and The Bistro.
How about events and activities?
We offer a wide variety of activities including fitness programs, shopping excursions, lecture series, musical programs and special events. Westminster provides scheduled transportation and organizes activities outside our community to local museums, the Austin Symphony, theater productions and day trips to historic and fun-loving locales. You’re free to participate as much or as little as you like.
Does Westminster offer health care?
As a Life Plan community, Westminster gives you access to a full continuum of care, as needed. Our Arbour Health Center provides 24/7 skilled nursing care and short-term rehabilitation services that include physical, occupational and speech therapies, and memory care. From short-term support for recovery from illness or injury, to long-term care and daily supervision, your health care needs are covered.
Are there extra charges for health services?
Because Westminster is a Life Care community, you are entitled to unlimited days in any level of care at virtually the same monthly service fee as your current independent living apartment.
What if I already have long-term care insurance?
Most long-term care insurance policies do not guarantee where you will receive care, so if you have an idea about the quality and a specific location you want in the future, this is something to consider. Many top-quality care centers fill up fast and have a waiting list. So although you might receive financial benefits from your policy, you may spend time in a health center not of your choosing.
As a Life Plan community, Westminster ensures access to a full continuum of on-site high-quality care from short-term rehabilitation to skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care. These services are available whenever you need them, for as long as needed, at virtually no increase in your monthly service fee. What’s more, you’ll know the people providing care, and they’ll know you.
And because some long-term care policies pay a daily benefit even if the policyholder has signed on for Life Care, you may receive benefits while receiving care at Westminster. This would allow you to apply that benefit to your monthly service fee if you choose. Check with your insurance broker to verify the benefits of your policy.
Who sponsors and manages Westminster?
Westminster is a not-for-profit community governed by a local volunteer board of directors. We are managed by Life Care Services, LLC. With more than five decades of experience, Life Care Services is the nation’s leading and most progressive force in the senior living industry, currently serving some 30,000 residents in more than 100 communities.
