Westminster Residents’ Story of Lifelong Friendship Captures Hearts Across the Country

What began as a story about lifelong friendship at Westminster quickly became a national sensation, reminding people across the country that some friendships truly last a lifetime.

ABC News and “Good Morning America” featured the story of more than 50 Austin High School graduates who now call Westminster home. Decades after graduating together, these classmates have reunited as neighbors. Every Tuesday, they gather for their beloved ROOL (Rest of Our Lives) dinners, celebrating friendships that have endured for more than 70 years.

The feature spotlighted our residents as fellow classmates shared what it means to reconnect with lifelong friends decades later, and why friendship, community and connection matter so much to healthy aging. Westminster is so proud to be part of that experience.

The story struck a chord with audiences nationwide. Following its debut on ABCNews.com and GoodMorningAmerica.com, it was syndicated by Yahoo and AOL, featured on YouTube and inspired an original feature by Upworthy, one of the country’s leading publishers of uplifting stories. Every Tuesday, classmates gather for dinner, laughter and conversation, continuing traditions that began at Austin High School more than seven decades ago. Their annual Austin High reunion has become one of Westminster’s most cherished traditions, bringing alumni together to celebrate a shared history while creating new memories.

While the national attention has been exciting, the real story is one of friendship, community and belonging. Westminster is proud to be home to a group of residents whose relationships continue to inspire not only one another, but now people across the country.
