The Westminster CARES Foundation
The Westminster CARES Foundation provides grants, education, consulting, equipment, and other resources that foster social connections, promote independence, and create supportive communities serving seniors and the disabled. The Foundation prioritizes projects that promote Texas Culture Change initiatives, quality improvement programs, and the Westminster Person Centered Care model. CARES stands for Centered Around Resident Empowered Services, the model of care that allows residents to prioritize choices, dignity, and well-being. The Foundation is structured as a 509(a)(1) supporting organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors, and it’s budget is reviewed quarterly and approved annually.

Our mission is to advance effective solutions that benefit seniors and people living with disabilities across Texas. Our vision is that all Texas seniors and people with disabilities have access to a nurturing, purposeful, connected, and abundant life, and are treated with dignity and respect at all times.

Every one of your donations goes directly to carefully vetted, high-impact organizations dedicated to serving senior and disabled populations across every region of Texas. Thanks to your generosity, the CARES Foundation provides essential support and dignity to some of the most underserved and at-risk members of our community.
In 2024 alone, Westminster contributed approximately $350,000 to 32 local nonprofits, while residents and associates dedicated their time and talents through volunteer service.
One cause especially close to Westminster’s heart is Alzheimer’s Texas. Since the mid-1980s, Westminster has been raising funds in support of their mission. By the end of 2024, we had raised approximately $2 million—earning the title of “Champion Fundraising” organization from Alzheimer’s Texas for nine consecutive years. In 2024 alone, Westminster raised over $168,000, making us the largest Austin-area fundraising community benefiting Alzheimer’s.
Westminster also collaborates with organizations like LeadingAge Texas and other mission-driven groups that promote quality aging services and advocacy across the state.
Organizations We Support
The Westminster CARES Foundation serves organizations that address the following needs:
- Senior adults and the disabled who have limited financial resources or struggle to meet basic needs
- Senior adults facing food insecurity
- Homebound or socially isolated seniors who lack regular companionship or support
- Aging senior veterans who have served our country and now need our care
- Adults living with disabilities who are navigating daily challenges with limited assistance
- Senior adults in need of access to healthcare or safe, stable housing
The Foundation is currently inviting organizations to submit grant applications. This process will allow the Board to ensure effective use of the Foundation’s resources.
