Westminster Celebrates 50 Years in Austin

This month 50 years ago, Westminster opened its doors to the public as the very first continuing care retirement community in the state of Texas. Westminster was founded on a promise of compassion and devotion for residents and staff alike. We started with 12 employees in 1967. In the 50 years that followed, we have served thousands of individuals and families, all of whom have become part of our own extended family. People call Westminster “an Austin Original” for good reason; we are the first and finest senior living experience in the capital city.

As we look back over the last 50 years, we do so with pride in the accomplishments we’ve made together. We look to the community of Austin, Texas, to our efforts to spread culture change in long-term care, our relationships with industry partners, nonprofits such as AustinUP, Texas Culture Change Coalition (TxCCC), and charities like Caritas of Austin, and our management company Life Care Services. We look to our three years of recognition as a top workplace in Austin by the Austin American-Statesman.

It is an honor that so many of Austin’s residents have chosen Westminster as home.
